They made their debut short The Cookie Thief in 1999 on a shoestring budget of £2,500 and secured a Palme d'Or nomination in Cannes 1999, the only British nominees in the short film section. The film has since been seen in over 20 festivals worldwide, including Hong Kong, Paris, Athens, London, Cork, Rome, Sao Paolo, Miami, Buenos Aires, Brussels, Kerela...and Croydon. International sales have been completed to Canal Plus, Canal International, Multicanal International, Channel 4, six international airlines, as well as a worldwide live webcast from the London Film Festival website in September 1999. The film has also been shown twice at the Odeon Leicester Square, and was short listed for a BAFTA nomination, 2000.
In 2001, Toby and Hugo were commissioned to direct Fat
Chance as part of Film Four's Short Cuts initiative. Fat
Chance was nominated for best short film at the Rushes Soho
Short Film Festival 2001, and was also shown as part of the
Kodak Cinematography Showcase at the BAFTA theatre,
Piccadilly. The film has been shown at twenty odd festivals
worldwide, and debuted on Film Four / Channel Four in late
2002.
In 2007 the second draft of their debut comedy feature, The
Pro was completed, and they released a ten minute based on
the original script. Coproduced by Meg Thomson and George
Duffield's Arcane Pictures, The Pro stars Richard Coyle,
Andrew Lincoln, Mark Heap and Paul Thornley. Shot entirely
on location, the short has been entered for worldwide
festivals, and had its cast and crew screening on the 2nd
